A bit testy today, Andrew? You expect a poor 'Murkin to SPELL a
colloquialism correctly 7 years later?
We flew business class to Sydney (my trip on my grant) with a very short
layover and off to Launceston. CFO was blissfully unaware that I had spent
almo
st the entire Pacific in the bathroom--really "Bathroom class." She was gold
preferred (no longer, sniff) and we had free upgrades, or what I had
anticipated as an upgrade. We were able to use the airline lounge at Logan
and
that's where I must have ingested something quite off.
>From the symptom of projectile vomiting, likely contained Staph. exotoxin.
The unfortunate passengers seated close to the bathroom glared at me like I
had Ebola when I finally emerged. Almost recovered except jetlag, no sleep,
by
time we reached Tas. Then while in a bit compromised condition had to
maneuver the rental car with the stick shift on the wrong side and the
expected
bizarre perspective driving on the left. They also have a fondness of the
accursed rotaries, of which we have way too many here in New England. Perhaps
there is indeed an irrational streak down there.
The blasted things are traversed the wrong way round as well. Most 'Murkins
(very few there) were obvious as they had the cleanest windshields as the
wipers and turn signals are on the "wrong" side.
I'll admit to one significant screw up. We had hiked down Wineglass Bay
with a bunch of OM gear. I think we had some promising images.

The CFO commented that I was sweating a bit more than expected for a runner
on the way up, and fessed up that I was worried about the analog movable
sensors. I am quite careful, but it did not catch well and despite it being
seemingly around enough times was not advancing. Drat. Should have caught it
sooner, and it hasn't happened since. Suppose everyone has stories like that.
At least my presentation went well, and the remainder of the trip was great.
