Folks,
As you know, list mails are systematically archived at the following
URL:
http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/private/olympus/
Access to these archives are, currently, list-members-only, protected
by the list member passwords (see previous emails on how to get one,
if you've lost yours).
Occasionally, "services" such as nabble.com is trying to subscribing
to the list, and archive mails elsewhere -- and, presumably, make
those available to the general public.
Currently, I am blocking such subscription requests (some,
automatically, some manually). I do this for the following reasons:
o there's already a list-archive, accessible to list members
o as we do not control these other "archive" sites, we do not
know
if sufficient
measures to counter "address harvesting" and spam are in place
o this list has been announced as with "private archives" since
we
moved hosting
I'm open to compelling arguments and if there's rough consensus on
the list to change the policy then we can. However for now, this is
the policy that I'm (trying to) ensure, and I wanted to be
transparent on this matter. (And, I appreciate a heads up if I've
missed a such "service" being subscribed).
Cheers,
List-Mum
