I think we'll see numerous alternative patterns, including pixels with varying sensitivities (Fuji), but other than the 3D stacking of two like-colored pixels (low-sensitivity pixel under a high-sensitivity pixel), the Bayer method of luminance and color mixing is here to stay for a long time.
