There are people that actually prefer an OM adapter without the
pin/tab, especially when shooting hand held. You can preset the
desired aperture, focus and compose with the lens wide open, and then
easily stop the lens down to the preset aperture before taking the
picture using the aperture stop down button on the side of the
lens. It's really a pretty fluid way of "stop-down" shooting and I
think it beats the more normal method of rotating the aperture ring
and counting clicks to stop down.
