I've had mine apart. There's nothing scary nor exciting in there. Just
three strips of phosphor-bronze that short together in sequence as you
push the button.

On the off-chance that we'd be interchanging trigger devices someday,
I used a simple 1/8" stereo phone plug, the kind found on personal
music system since the Sony Walkman. Is that what you mean by "bayonet
socket?" ("Bayonet" commonly refers to connectors that have two radial
pins that engage in a locking mechanism, like many auto lamps.)
I wired mine with the plug on the button end, socket on the camera
end, with the tip the shutter (red wire), ring the autofocus (brown
wire), and sleeve the common (shield).

And when you wire up your RM-CB1 with a 99 cent Radio Shack part,
you'll be able to use your OM timer on your E cams!
PS: wanna get rid of one of your OM timers?
