Samsung monitors have received good reviews from list members in the
past. I think Tom Scales was the first a long time ago reporting that
he had (I think) a 22" Samsung. Mike Lazzaro first recommended a 204b
then reported he was having trouble with random blackouts using the
digital input and said he'd get now get a (much more expensive) 245T
instead. Stephen Scharf reported happiness with his profiled 215TW,
Moose is quite happy with his 226BW and Garth Wood said he liked his
245BW. I've kept notes on this because I may well decide on a Samsung
replacement too.
However, I just bought a "Dynex" (house brand) 22" TV from Best Buy for
about $230 and I've been bowled over by the picture. Running my normal
cable signal it doesn't look as great as it did in the store where it
was presumably running off DVD but I've been impressed by the color and
evenness of illumination off-axis both horizontally and vertically.
Amazingly it also has VGA and DVI inputs so I will eventually haul it
into the office and try it as a monitor. Maybe the resolution isn't
high enough (no specs given) but I consider this one good enough on
color and off-axis viewing.
