Think again, John, the UK Register has entries from G-AAAA to G-ZZZZ (though
both of those aircraft have been de-registered, as it happens), and you can
choose an out-of-sequence combination, as did the owner of G-RUVY as shown
here:-

If you really magnify the image of that RV-9 single engined aeroplane whose
URL someone included in a recent list message I get the felling that the
G-RUVY registration letters take on the impression of being a very carefull
and very well done masking, selection and layering operation in Photoshop !
I cannot imagine that any aeroplane registration clerk could have such a
Mindbending sense of humour to put a smile on the plane's owner's face :-)
