I have used NiCads in my QA310.
They were only 450 mAh capacity at that time and 14 hours charging
time at 45mA...
I owned a 315V battery pack but soon after purchasing it new batteries
became unavailable due to new safety regulations.
I also used 6V lead-acid batteries which (I think) have even lower
internal resistance than NiCads.
I never had any problems with whatever power source I used. But I
admit that I always was a slow photographer, taking long pauses
between shots for precise metering with my OM-2 and Gossen meters.
This allowed the flash gear to cool down considerably between shots.
