I'm in the same boat. Last year we purchased a Panasonic
Lumix. The equivalent to it today might be the DMC-FX37.
This one has most of the features you are looking for, is reasonably
responsive, but no viewfinder. For more money is the DMC-LX3.
I don't know of any cameras that take regular batteries these days.
Viewfinders are also hard to find.
