Dear all,
After much trying out with different hosting companies, etc., I've
found one which appears able to perform. I hope that this should
ensure better list availability and more continuos and timely
service. I apologize for the delay in getting to this point.
THEREFORE: Expect some disturbance of service Monday/Tuesday while
the transition is underway.
I will, of course, do my utmost to minimize any interruptions or
disturbances, but I apologize in advance for any inconveniences.
Question to y'all:
o As the list has moved from being "OM-cameras" to becoming "OM+E
cameras", I wonder if the
[OM] should be:
o kept in place, for history's sake
o changed to [Olympus]
o changed to [OM+E]
o changed to something else
Consider this a consensus call, not a vote ;)
New Features:
o The list will be hosted under one of my domain names, which
should
allow the
addresses to/from it to remain stable even when/if it moves
again.
o The host will provide also web-archives for the list.
o There should be an actually functioning web-interface for
setting
subscriber
options
o There's an automated bounce processing enabled (should make my
life easier).
We will see how it works, please do signal any "unjust
bounces", if
you get some.
Now, we have about a zillion subscribers on "Vacation". Some really
are (good for them!), some are our respective "double-subscriptions"
allowing us to post also from work without getting 2 copies of our
mails -- and some are "serial bouncers" that have been sent on
vacation and never gotten off, likely because their addresses have
expired and they're no longer interested. I'd like to take this
occasion to "clean up" in that list. So, therefore:
o Those email addresses that are *not* on vacation will be
transfered directly
o Those email addresses that are on vacation will receive an
INVITATION
with information as to how to join and set vacation flags.
I've got a couple of additional "new features" up my sleeve, but for
now these will have to wait. Stay tuned.
