I'm told by the mother of two lobstermen that most Maine lobster is
exported to Canada, where it is processed and redistributed. There
are, she says, two principal companies that do this. One has gone out
of business due to the global, ah, unpleasantness, and the other
can't get credit and so has drastically curtailed buying. There was a
story in today's Portland paper about how Mainers are deliberately
eating more lobster to help shore up the industry.
