> Tell us about the workshop Bill...?

OK, but short. I fouund it on the web somewhere, under italyworkshops.com. It
is run by a portrait/wedding photographer from Salt Lake City. Fortunately, we
locked in the price when the Euro was about $1.25. For today's rate, omit the
decimal point.
We are met at the Florence airport by a large, modern tour-style bus. The
driver, Gabirelle was quite helpful and very skilled in almost everything
except English, but that wasn't a problem. We are taken to a "agritoruismo"
close to Siena (closer to Bounconvento if you know Tuscany), with a stop at
small village on the way.
The mornings are taken by informal classes, and the afternoons are spent in the
countryside. Evening meals are at the agritourismo, and are very good three and
four course meals. Despite the religion of the presenter and several attendees,
there was plenty of the quite good local wine.
The "tours" were quite good, even for those of us that had spent time in most
of the destinations. The classes were presented by the organizer, along with an
Idaho based pro and an Italian pro. Two of the three were good examples of PPA
people, and the other was a talented commercial shooter, so there were a modest
range of views and styles.
Each of us downloaded files at the day's end and gave several images to be
presented in the morning classes.
Strong points: They tried to serve all attendees, varying from utter beginners
to lifelong pro's, and in general did OK. Sometimes things would get off track
and didn't get rerailed. Sometimes, there were too many discussions on arcane
points of Lightroom. Still, despite some lack in organization, something was
learned by all. If nothing else, I was forced to put a critical eye to my
photos at an earlier stage.
The tours were all good, to good locations within easy driving range. The only
criticism was that the only evening light trip was to Siena (the town, not the
actress, you pervs).
Partners are offered a cooking class in the mornings. My wife and friend
(that's two people) were both very pleased.
I wouldn't hesitate to go again.
