It's what immediately occure to me. You have to sell it to the
missus, that's all - and I know...I live with a woman who is VERY
resistant to changing anything once it's in place. I once built a
small kitchen extension behind a wall (into a cellar space) and then
demolisehe the wall while she was out shopping so it was 'voila -
fait accompli!'
Tell her that the fridge will now be opposite the stove - convenient
as it reduces movement, traffic. Point out that the phone and desk
area will now be directly accessible from the dining room - ideal for
setting up the next course for a dinner party. I would tend to
dispense with the desk myself and use a skinny benchtop there as the
drawers might be inconvenient (blocking the doorway when opened (tho'
not as badly as the fridge!).
