Thanks. Yes, that is a possibility but I didn't mention it since SWMBO has rejected it. She thinks that the fridge moved up next to the doorway will make a tunnel-like walkway between the fridge and door you see open in photo 3. I tend to agree but haven't completely discarded that as it's the least expensive solution and makes use of all the existing cabinetry with relatively minor reworking.
