it's the same here for all timber and sheet sizes but that was
inevitable. All the construction measurements are based on the
building standards that were in place when metric conversion took
place. Plus designs, machinery, compatibility with existing
structures, you know the story. So, it was pretty much unavoidable.
It's different in countries where the metric system has been in place
for some time but for us, there's no point trying to sell a metre
wide door to someone with a 3ft hole.
