Over here, by the way, the standard lengths for metric-sized timber are 1.8m
and 2.4m  otherwise known as 6 feet and 8 feet. And then of course we have
the standard window frame sizes, which I think are multiples of 4 feet ...
no, no, I mean 1.2m.  But don't forget kitchen units and the appliances
which have to fit inside them, at 600mm.
