 modern
diesels are responsive, powerful and very very frugal.


On our last trip to Italy, we rented a diesel Renault (!) and it was great. 
I would buy one if they decided to bring them over here. Great mileage, good 
performance, slient. We didn't know it was a diesel until we opened the door 
to fill it up.
