I just did a quick count in my head on the number of Indian verse non Indian
gas stations around me. In the area that I consider that I would consider my
home area ( approximately a 10 mi x 8 mile area) there are 10 Indian and 8
non Indian gas stations. From where I'm located the non Indian gas stations
are on the fringe of the territory. It just doesn't make any sense to fill a
5 gallon gas can at at anything but the most local place.
We'll see where it all goes when they decide how much and which land ends up
into a federal trust. It should fund another generation of lawyers. While the
casino may provide jobs it doesn't produce spin off businesses, except for a
liquor store, like a business park or even retail. It does show what can be
done if something is profitable enough and most taxes are removed.
