I have the 50-200 and have used it to take photos in the San Diego Wild
Animal park and have occasionally wished for a longer lens.  I do have a
300 4.5 that I use in those times.  I would buy the 1.4 if I could afford
it but in your situation (and I do wish I was going ) I would worry more
about the amount of storage I had with me.  John
