It goes like this -
Whatever else it is, it's a lens. Go out and use it. Get some photons
through it.
When the novelty wears off - anything from a week to a year, get it
serviced.
It'll be easier to part with then, even if only for a while.
And John should be feeling a lot better by then too if he has to go
under.
