I made a career of being bone idle, relying on natural intelligence
and rat cunning to avoid doing anything I didn't want to do. Needless
to say, it didn't always work, I let myself down quite a bit and I'm
deeply ashamed of having taken the money.
My father-in-law regarded retirement as 'not working on Sundays.'
I regard retirement as 'not having to do anything I don't really want
to do'.
Seems to work.
Of course, the other necessity is to stay out from under the feet of
my particular household goddess, you know, the one in whose house I'm
allowed to reside so long as I don't cause too much fuss,
embarassment or mess.
I've appointed Ganesha as household god - him and the cat
anyway.
