I guess you mean not the unusual wynn and eszett and so on, but a
strange combination of usual characters standing in place of them.

Interesting… it shouldn't be neither, since I see them allright in the
return messages. I am using Epiphany, which is based on the same
Mozilla engine as Thunderbird.
