It doesn't help when you're out, but if you've even a modicum of
free time on your hands homebrew kits are easily available at large
department stores and supermarkets (eg. Big W), or find an online
shop. Experimentation might open a whole new can of obsession.
Find a specialist homebrew store, and the world is your beer-battered
oyster (eww, oysters, another popular "food" I can't stomach).
Online, well, your desire for recipes will be satisfied, and then
some.
A bit like Bintang consumed in Bali (I am told), homebrew tastes a lot
nicer than it probably is, but at the price and in that place it still
tastes pretty good. (Peter once bought a box of Bintang at $5/bottle
for a post-Bali get-together. Apparently it tasted pretty ordinary,
and not like the "nectar" it was over there).
