I think it was caused by the guy in the bright shirt holding up the "Peaches"
sign.
On a related note, though, it looks a little bit like x-ray damage. The way
the patterns show up, it looks like the anti-halation layer saved the image
area of the film, but there is a lot of refraction in the film itself--hence
the pattern around the sprocket holes.
