I hope so too. The May 2007 issue of Consumer Reports has a "Most &
Least Reliable Brands" article covering very general brand reliability
ratings in broad product categories derived from feedback given by
950,000 readers. There are some 30 different product categories covered
in a 4 page article so there is no real detail.
But in the digital camera category they say most cameras and makes have
been very reliable and no single brand or type stands out as the best.
However, in the "more repair prone" category we find only Vivitar for
point-and-shoots and in the "most repair prone" category we find only
Olympus for SLRs. The digital camera data covers years 2003-2006. Oly
must have been a fair piece off the mark to have been singled out as the
worst case in a field where there were generally no real winners or losers.
