Hi Mike,
I saw that one too. I don't think I've ever seen a Sigma having the
small metal handle on the filter holder. I also thought (perhaps
guessed is more accurate) that the filtermatic descripter applied to
fairly old Sigma lenses. Scott Pedan seems to have a very old Sigma.
He could probably tell whether this is the same as his. His tiny
filters are probably going to cause him some work in order to get a
very good UV filter, which apparently is needed for the lens to be
reasonably sharp. I think I'll send an email to Scott.
I ebay'd a pretty strange sigma 500/8 catadioptric lens recently. It
arrived a day ago so I haven't had time to do anything but mount it on
an OM to make sure it fits. The lens looks like it might be a Maksutov
but it has an extra element, which appears to be flat, in front of the
curved Maksutov corrector lens. The secondary mirror is mounted on
what looks like the curved corrector. The other odd thing is that the
mount has the moving aperture stop down lever, but it isn't connected
to anything.
Best wishes,
-jeff
