Ali, RRS do make a couple of replacement collars but only for solving a specific design issue with the collars they replace. In both cases that I can think of they are N*kkors that upon redesign to AF-S spec got prettier but too flexible collars thus compromising the lenses performance notably. If I recall correctly SRB in the UK <www.srbfilm.co.uk> do make collars custom fitted to solve your problem (assuming I have it right that you are looking to add a collar to a lens that doesn't have one by design or accessory option already). Their solution is a large ring and inserts to clamp around the lens body, solid but big. Be prepared to pay around $100-120 for one and for it to some what bulkier than an OEM item might be. If I got your need incorrect and you are trying to replace a lost collar that is now hard to find on its own I would suggest that you start looking for another model lens of a similar design that is easier to find the collar for and adapt one to fit (the Olympus collar can be modified to the Tamron 80-200mm f2.8 lens for example). Good luck, Dan S. -----Original Message----- From: olympus-owner@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:olympus-owner@xxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ali Shah Subject: [OM] RRS clamps Called RRS to inquire about a tripod collar for an older lens that normally does not come with a collar. The guy suggested the B2pro and B86. I am a little confused...how does this work to mount the lens on a monopod/tripod? ============================================== List usage info: http://www.zuikoholic.com List nannies: olympusadmin@xxxxxxxxxx ============================================== |
