[OM] (OM) failure of Vuescan to open under XP

Hi all

>From the log file, Ed Hamrick was able to determine that the problem was 
related to the HP device attached to the MacHine.

It was indeed the problem - that I had the HP printer / kitchen-wizz turned off.

Once turned on, Vuescan opened just fine. Didn't test any further at this 
stage.
