Some of the larger Gitzo CF legs have a similar option instead of the
center post... Gitzo 1325
My own impression is that the older Gitzo 1227(?) legs are quite
adequate for the Tamron 400/4 but I wouldn't want to go with anything
less stable.
The 1227 legs definitely can't handle a Zuiko 1000/11. It appeared to
me that the legs themselves rather than the center post were the
problem.
