Mustang P-51. P for pursuit, the designation that came before F for fighter. My dad used to fix them during the war (along with P-38's) at what is now RAF Honington. When I was a young lad we lived next to an Air National Guard base and I used to ride my bike near the runway so I could watch them take off and land. Such a glorious sound from that Rolls Royce Merlin... I think I'd recognize it anywhere. But to keep my audio memories intact I have a copy of this CD <http://www.amazon.com/Checkflight-P-51-Bob-Love/dp/B000ALGV70/ref=sr_1_1/103-3192476-2323027?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1173442474&sr=1-1> Sounds wonderful on my big 14" woofers. I've never heard a Spitfire and have wondered how much they sound the same with the same engine. Although I've never heard a Spitfire I have spent a fair amount of time working at IBM's Hursley House (near Winchester, England) where the Spitfire was developed. The building has lots of Spitfire memorabilia. Wikipedia says 437 mph at 25,000 feet for the Mustang. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-51_Mustang> Chuck Norcutt Brian Swale wrote: > Hi all > A Mustang P?45 has just flown over my head then beneath (to the side) of > our house at what seemed like full chat. > > Wow!
