Interesting... I've been in that way now, and everything seems ok
with the levers under the cam ring.
I opened up another sample (non-functional for other reasons, but with
working diaphragm) and the only difference seems to be further in.
Down near the rear element, looking from the front, there is a ring
with six notches that turns when the stop-down lever is moved. On the
working sample, these notches each have a pin in them - I guess one
for each aperture blade, but on the non-working sample the notches are
empty. Could all the leaves have come adrift somehow? It almost
looks as though they just aren't there!
