France is like any other place : most of the people are decent and honest. A
small minority are trouble makers. Paris-town is quite secure (massive police
presence), suburbs are less friendly - still, really dangerous places are in
pretty small number. You're safe most everywhere, save a handful of really
dodgy spots (where there are no photo opportunities anyway). News of civil
war in France have been vastly exagerated (last year's events made 0 - zero -
casualties).

But we love tourists ; we tend to joke about them, but it's one of our biggest
cash-maker. And we treat them well. As long as we're sure they want to go
back to their homes after a couple of weeks.
