I have the same set-up, but I usually don't change the settings. My
action applies LCE to a new layer. If the effect is too strong, I can
simply adjust the opacity of the LCE layer. I find it faster and easier
to adjust the slider while looking at the image than adjusting the
parameters. Also, once in a while I want more than one shot of LCE. Just
push the button again, adjust the opacity of the new layer, then merge
it down.

I find it fairly common that I need to adjust the brightness, and
possibly 'global' contrast before LCE to allow for that effect. It will
sometimes clip the bottom of the histogram, too, which sometimes matters.

I like your name, but I'll bet the one in common use will stick. It is
local, in a way, compared to the Contrast control or putting an 'S' in
the Curve.
