Hi Chris,
Re image 7, as an alternative, and just by using a bit of paper to mask
it off, it also looks good to me if you crop off the path on the right
completely, and crop a little off the left to even things up. And maybe
a little cheating*, er sorry "photoshopping", to get rid of the branch
top left ?
Still, it's a nice image as it is anyway, and I agree with others about
the black background - it makes a nice display. I've found that I quite
like a dark background (black or other dark colour) with some kind of
frame around the picture - but that's just personal choice.
Regards,
Jon
* Note that I only consider it "cheating" 'cos I am not good enough at
it yet. Once I can compete in the field of Photoshop Retouching, then
it shall be reclassified as "processing". .... BIG ;-) ....

Thanks, Chuck. I can see now that you should be able to see either
the apex or only one path. At the time I was so taken with the trees
that I lost my way ...
This is the way for me to improve: to show others and suffer the
embarrassment, even if it is only private, of seeing poorly composed
or set up images.
