Hmmm I would think that a reflector (preferably with a motorised equatorial
mount) would be better than a refractor for astrophotography.

Reasons:
1) Large objective refractors are more expensive than large objective
mirrors.
2) Even low-cost reflectors are free from chromatic aberration.
3) Even small/low-end reflectors tend to use equatorial mounts (so need to
move on only one axis of rotation to keep track on a celestial object - as
opposed to the need to move on two axes in the case of the alt-azimuth mount
usually seen on small/low-end refractors.
4) An equatorial mount can be counter-balanced to take into account the
camera body's weight.

In the UK, I've seen a 4.5" reflector with motorised equatorial mount and
designed/intended for astro-photography in my local camera store for around
£200 (approx $400).
If that shot of the moon was done using a small refractor, then I'm doubly
impressed!

PS No trees were harmed in the sending of this message and a very large
number of electrons were asked their permission to be terribly
inconvenienced. (And threw a party for them afterwards for being really cool
about it).

Disrupting the unnatural balance that you, as a conscious human being and a
confused mass of energy, have created.
