You need to review the marketing material for the OM-2. It incorporated
a shock absorber system on the mirror up mechanism which was supposed to
be so gentle that the lock up wasn't required. Olympus probably did
testing and couldn't tell the diffrence between the two cameras...
because, as Gary found out, the real vibration problem was never the
mirror slap but the apperture stop down arm snapping into place.
