I go sailing around the area a lot. A beautiful area with much to
do. If you can get out on a sailboat, by all means do so. The St
Michaels/Oxford area is very nice with a lot of touristy stuff,
shops, a museum, etc. There is a small, old ferry betweed these two
small towns that is fun to take. Bike riding is popular in the area,
and being flat it is easy. Be sure to taste the crabs and crab
cakes. No better crabs in the world. You can go out on various
boats, including old skipjacks - the old sailing boats for dredging
oysters. There are some small islands in the area you can take boats
to Smith Is and Tangier Is, that are like a step back in time to the
1950s.
Cambridge is a little larger town, but still charming, rich in
history, with many shops, antiques, etc.
I'm sure a google search would turn up a lot of ideas.
Don't worry about the misquitoes - they are not any worse than any
where else on the east coast. I have not been bothered by them.
Just use some OFF if they find you tasty.
Good luck.
