Yes, you are right. I tried this on the 14-54mm, which has distance marks. I
can set the focus ring to infinity, and keep turning it, but focus does not
change any further, i.e. it does not go past the infinity mark, and it does not
visibly change any more in the viewfinder.
I also verified that if I set the focus to, say, 2m, then switch the camera
off, focus is set to the infinity mark.
Of course, on kit lenses such as the 40-150mm, which have no distance marks,
this "switch off" method may well be the only one available.
