I goofed when I listed the probable contents. I should've said "Digital kit,"
not "E-1 kit," because I nearly never put the E-1, or whatever the camera du
jour is, in whatever sort of bag I'm toting the rest of the gear. I keek it out
and ready to go, often hanging by its strap from the headrest of the passenger
seat -- unless, of course, there's a passenger in the way. The backpack would
be expected to hold the E-330 body instead, while the E-1 with, most likely,
the 14-54 attached would probably be around my neck or off one shoulder as I
venture forth. That makes this bag more practical, particularly since it's only
4 inches deep and the E-1 with big HLD battery attached is 5 1/4 inches tall
and would be a really tight fit. :-]
And surely I can survive 499 yards without the laptop. Cell phone, GPS
receiver, Glock, chocolate, canteen/flask, pocketknife, snakebite kit, bug
repellant, flashlight, Stoney Point monopod, binoclars and bird and critter
guidebooks, sure, but the laptop can stay in the car.
