Ciba is a problematical material, as it is VERY high contrast. The good
printers routinely use contrast masking. In one sense, it is a poor material
for prints from chromes, as highlight and shadow detail can be easily lost.
On the other hand, with a low contrast chrome or appropriate masking, the
colors seem to jump off the page and assault the viewer. With the right
original, they can be dramatic.
With the epson print, you will never get the distinctive look of a ciba, as
there is no gloss like ciba gloss. It can look more like a window than a
photo.
In the past, there were some labs that made lightjet prints on ciba paper.
I've never seen the results, but it could be a good option in the contrast
control department.
