I like and own the velbon cf530 - its light (around 1.5 kg) being carbon
fibre and well built (magnesium metal work). Mine cost me 150 pounds new
including an ok-ish (head which came free with it). It has a split centre
column and the legs can be spread out to allow the tripod to go very low
for flower shoots. also its only 55cm long when folded up and so can fit
in my check in baggage easily. I have used it with the Tamron 80-220 for
night photography with exposures of 2 minutes plus using an om4ti and got
very good results. It also works well with my Bronica and 100-220 zoom a
combination which is well over 3.5kg with a film back and meterred prism.
My only crisisims of it is that the free pan head is not that rigid and it
did not come with a carrying case.
Regards
James
