Thanks Scott,
The Katzeyeoptics plus would probably be ideal. Actually I'm tempted to see
if Katzeye could make one (or probably more) for my OMs. Brightness by
itself isn't too important. Accurate focusing is what I'm after. I don't
think the Hi Lux treatment helps focusing accuracy???
I've got some slow catadioptric lenses that I like to use from time to time.
I have difficulty using these on an OM. On the 5D I think it will be even
worse. On the OMs I've tried the 1-8 and 1-7 with fairly good results (but
have to change out the screen to use a wide angle lens). Also one of my
favorite lenses is the relatively slow 50-250 f5 Zuiko.
Canon's warning and Johnny's test with his 300/4.5 makes Canon's optional
screen sound like no improvement for me. Katzeyeoptics will put grid lines
on their screens so conceivably I could have the split image which works
with slow fixed aperture lenses and the grid lines to help avoid keystoning
and tilted horizons.

Jeff, which "custom screen" do you hope to find? Does the design
exist amongst the Canon selections? If so, you can buy one and send
it out to have the Maxwell HiLux process applied to it.
