Since I've used Swiffer Dusters to clean film before scanning I asked
the Swiffer Duster folks if they would countenance my using their
dusters on my digital camera's sensor. Would whatever chemicals were on
the duster cause damage to my sensor?
They kindly responded that they had no idea and that I shouldn't do it.
However, they thought the idea of entering the camera cleaning market
with a specialized verion of the Swiffer Duster was intriguing and sent
it off to engineering and marketing for evaluation.
If the sensor is clean and all you're going to do is dust the mirror box
I think I'd blow it out well first and then use a small piece of Swiffer
Duster on the mirror and sides of the mirror box with frequent changes
to fresh pieces cut from the larger duster. I've done it before with an
OM-2s. The mirror hasn't disitegrated yet.
