The new ones have a magnetic connector - AFAIK no-one has yet made a
car adapter to use with this. I too have a tiny old style third party
car connector. Bothered me at first but then I went out and bought a
little voltage inverter for the car. 150W with a 300W peak (new
MacBooks are 65W) and it's cheaper than some of the specialised power
supplies. Bigger but it will power anything in its range so it's both
less and more convenient.
I suddenly got a notification this morning that my stuff had been
shipped by Apple and I was able to collect from work this afternoon.
That's one week from on-line order. Oh it is sooooo pretty and in
genuine OM1 chrome finish too. And I was right about the battery too
- if Apple can supply that battery for approx. US$140 here before my
discount, then the battery for the E1 is worth about $20 tops.
