Is that so for versions CS and CS2, Charlie?
I had understood that the newer versions of PS do require "activation" *but*
allow for de-activation to (for example) transfer the program to a new PC in
your ownership, *and* allow two activations per six-month period.
That would explain your success so far, but would suggest you might have
problems next time - better get Wayman Jr to de-activate his original
installation.
See www.adobe.com/activation - choose option "Adobe Photoshop CS for
Windows"
.... and listen out for the helicopters :-)

Since registration is not required for the program to work (unlike MS
Office) it is probably no big deal.
