I bought a new LCD TV/Monitor yesterday and thought about the recent 'what
computer to buy' thread.
It is a Westinghouse LVM-37w1. I realize that Westinghouse doesn't roll off
the tongue as the most common of monitors, but they are unique in one very
important respect. They're one of a limited number of companies using a true
1920x1080 37" panel. Most use 1366x768.
Hooked it up to my PC this morning. I discovered the quality of the card
matters. On my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (the best card available when I bought
it), the results are pretty good. On a new nVidia 6600 (currently a
mid-range card), the results are stunning.
I haven't profiled it yet, but it should profile fine, since it is a DVI
connection with individual color adjustments.
It's like working on a painting. Photoshop at 37 inches.
The nice part was I bought an open-box. $1499.
