Skip,
Let's hope it works. I had the same hope for the 4870 (and I needed a new
flatbed anyway), but it failed me. I didn't expect any results from the 35
end, and wasn't dissapointed. I got a Minolta 5400 for that, and I continues
to serve me well.
120 and Xpan were another dissapointent. Although the files were huge, the
sharpness isn't. Even with the Doug Fisher holders and ANR glass, which are
a BIG help, the scans are just plain soft. Fortunately, I found a Multi Pro
in LN condition last December, have modified the holder for Xpan, and all is
well. I highly recommend that scanner to whomever can find a good used
example, and heap disdain on Minolta for abandoning that scanner and their
superb light meters.
I will keep my fingers figuratively crossed for your best luck.
