The edges of the round image just touch the edges of the short dimension of the
rectangular image space of the camera.
A "full frame" fisheye also produces a round, generally 180 degree,
image. However, it is larger, so that it just reaches the corners of the
rectangular image space, thus filling it, and the rest of the circle is
lost. So the field of view is 180 degrees diagonally, but less than that
horizontally and even less vertically.
The ZD 8/3.5 is a full frame fisheye. You can see a couple of sample
