Hi all,
Two or three days ago somebody wrote that no manufacturers published
tests of their own lenses, and that the manufacturers must have been
dismayed at the emphasis placed on resolution, ahead of other qualities they
might well have designed into their lenses, when independent laboratories
carried out and published tests of lens resolution and contrast etc.. And
added that there had been subtle changes to Zuiko lenses as a result.
Well, to the contrary, Olympus have certainly been liberal with publishing the
construction and MTF tests of their ZD lenses in the current line-up. I have
saved many of the tests on my 'puter. Not that I can understand MTF tests
as well as I think I can understand resolution tests results.
Also, I note that the Olympus staff interviews on the site mentioned by
Richard Lovison reveal that Olympus have significantly increased the
precision of ZD lens construction (reduced the allowable measured size
tolerances to half what it was for manual Zuikos )
What a pity this wasn't done 10 years ago.
