It seems to be a competitor to Apple's Aperture as a workflow and
archiving program. As Aperture was already released and Adobe/
Macromedia was some distance behind, they've made the interesting
(and brave?) flanking manoeuvre of releasing the beta version with a
June expiry. I suspect that by June, the photog planet will be full
of Lightroom beta users ready to upgrade. Nicely done. Only just
begun to play but my cousin, the Photoshop teacher/writer is severely
impressed and it looks very good indeed on his 20" flat panel.
